REFUGEE TEENAGE GIRL – PRINCIPAL ROLE – PAID

A local independent feature film company, Vervefilms, is currently casting for their next film project, which will be shot in the Raleigh-Durham area.

The casting team is looking for a unique actor to play one of the principal roles of a teenage girl who recently immigrated from Iraq/Iran as a refugee.

Character description:

[ REFUGEE TEENAGE GIRL ] – Is a 17-year-old hijab-clad introverted Kurdish (Iran-Iraq border) girl. She recently moved to the US, along with her mother, as they were forced to leave their home due to terrorism. She is light-skinned, has dark hair and can easily pass for a Caucasian girl. Her emotional trauma is evident on her face. We are looking for experienced, as well as first-time actors, whom will fit this role profile. No prior experience with martial arts training is required, but the actor should be willing to participate in those scenes. We encourage all body types. Although the character is a teenager, we are open to actors who look the part.
This is a speaking role and the actor will be required to speak in Farsi. No prior experience in Farsi is necessary as the actor will be offered adequate training to play their part.

Compensation & Logistics:
Priority will be given to local hires (within 30 miles of Cary, NC) or modified local hires (within 100 miles of Cary, NC). In the case of modified local hire, lodging will be offered on request. The actor will also receive reasonable compensation and meals. The actor will arrange for their own transportation. Most, if not all scenes, will be shot on the weekends.

Please send your acting reel and/or photos (head close-ups preferred) to vervefilmsproduction@gmail.com .

If you fit the profile, we’ll invite you to an invitation-only casting call in the Feb/March 2018 time-frame.
