CASTING CALL- UNCSA short film, “CHERRY LIPS”
LOG LINE: After falling in love with a swanky touring musician, a small-town waitress’ life has been put on hold, awaiting false promises of his return.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
“Dex” (Male, 22-35, Caucasian or African-American): A swanky touring musician. The object of our main character, Roya’s, affection. He is slick, charming, and manipulative. Egotistic and snake-like. MAJOR SPEAKING ROLE.
“Scott Marr” (Male, 30-60, any ethnicity): The manager of the diner our main character, Roya, works at. He is good-humored yet stern. He knows exactly how he wants his restaurant run. He is protective of Roya and is somewhat of a fatherly-figure to her. MAJOR SPEAKING ROLE.
“Jamie” (Female OR Male, 22-35, any ethnicity): A customer in the diner the night our story takes place. He/She is unassuming and a warm presence for our main character, Roya. Jamie convinces Roya through a midnight conversation to take charge of her life and change it for the better. MAJOR SPEAKING ROLE.
2 Waitresses (Female, 18-25, any ethnicity): Two waitresses who work alongside Roya at the diner. They are cute and bubbly but exclude Roya from their inner circle.
